A platform game with Tiny Toon characters, in development for the Jaguar but later cancelled. It seems that a beta-demo of this game was leaked some time ago. In 2006, Atariboy has posted on the Toon Zone Forum some images and sprites from this game, that were found on the official site of the developers.

From the long list of scans that MathUser has posted on the HPZ Forum, there’s an image from an early build of Virtua Fighter, with a beta select screen, different names for some fighters and a character (Shiba) that was cut and later reintroduced in Fighters Megamix.
From wikipedia we can read: Siba / Shiba is from a prototype of Virtua Fighter but was cut from the cast by the time of game’s actual release, though an icon featuring him (and mislabelled as “Akira”) appears on older Virtua Fighter arcade cabinents. Siba is an Arab in a white and purple outfit equipped with a sword that charges with green energy.

Thanks to Celine we can even see some screenshots with Siba / Shiba in action! (Taken from CVG magazine issue 31 and a spanish magazine thanks to Sega Saturno). We can also notice that the original name was Virtua Fighters (plural) instead of Fighter.
Also, Nick C was able to find an arcade cabinet with the Shiba picture! Click on the image for a bigger version:

Grazie a Federico abbiamo qualche notizia in più su questo gioco cancellato per CDI: Space Ranger doveva essere uno sparatutto a scorrimento orizzontale ambientato su vari pianeti, previsto in uscita per il 1995. Il progetto fu poi abbandonato perchè la Philips non voleva investire ulteriori fondi. Il gioco avrebbe richiesto opzionalmente la Cdi Digital Video Card. Una versione alpha è stata rilasciata un paio di anni fa, ma putroppo sembra che non sia stato sviluppato molto: è presente un solo livello giocabile che non è possibile nemmeno concludere. Già dalla versione alpha si può comunque notare una grande cura nella grafica 2D, con diversi livelli di parallasse e sfondi in movimento. Ancora una volta un progetto interessante cancellato troppo presto.

Our reader Drake Lake has made us notice that in the ATMachine website (a page that we have seen for the various beta Monkey Island / LucasArts adventures) there are even lots of informations about removed scenes and beta stuff from Jedi Knight, a first person shooter released in 1997 by LucasArts. In those screens we can see different cutscenes and different and removed weapons. You can check the original page for more informations and images. It even seems that in the beta versione there were a ride-able enemy creature, ‘tusken’ raiders on a sort of hovering motorcycle vehicle, and a supposedly planned ‘racing’ level which took place after Kyle Katarn escaped his father’s home/sewer system, but they are not yet confirmed as removed content.
