Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc is a platform game developed by Ubisoft and released for the Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC in 2003. A Rayman 3 beta demo was leaked online sometime ago, with some differences as character models, voices and controls. I did not play the final version of Rayman 3, so if you can notice some more differences in the development screens or the beta videos below, please let us know!
inSANE is a cancelled survival horror game that was development from 2010 by Volition in collaboration with film director Guillermo del Toro and to be published by THQ for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. The game was intended to be the first installment of a planned trilogy of Insane games, but in August 2012 THQ announced the cancellation of Insane with the intellectual property rights transferring to del Toro. It’s currently unknown if del Toro will try to find some other developer and publisher to continue the development of this project.
Redemption, AKA Project Jelena is a cancelled action game that was in development by Crytek in 2008, probably for PC. There are not many info about this game or why they decided to stop the development, but we know that the Forest map featured in one of CryEngine 3′s SDK is an area from this unreleased title. Jelena should have been the girl with a scarf that we can see in some other CryEngine 3 tech demos and also in some concept arts that you can see in the gallery below, archived to preserve the existence of this lost project.
Our guess is that the player would control the male character and would have to protect and escort the girl to safety. In one particular concept art, we can see the main characters hiding from a bunch of people (suggesting that the game would feature survival elements), while on another we can see a destroyed car with two characters searching for survivors.
CryENGINE 3 was later released on October 2009 and now Crytek are working on Crysis 3, Ryse, Warface and Homefront 2, but maybe in the future Redemption / Project Jelena could be resurrected.
Technomancer – A Calcaphon Adventure is a cancelled action game that was in development by Qube Software for the original Xbox, Playstation 2 and PC, that would have been published by Virgin Interactive Entertainment. The project started in early 1999 and the development continued till 2003, with a playable prototype / beta version, but they never finished the game. As the main focus of Qube has always been the development of 3D software for 3D middleware and not games, maybe they had some development problems and Technomancer was cancelled. Only a video is archived in the below, to preserve its existence.
Silent hill 3 is a third-person survival horror game developed for the PlayStation 2 and PC by Konami and later released in HD on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Here is a list of the following unused beta textures and sounds found on the PC game disk of SH3.
1) Closer monsters have an unused climbing animation.
2) Nurses have an unused animation that shows the nurses attacking upside down from the ceiling.
3) Unused Baby crying sound
4 & 5) Unused photo: Found only as a texture, it was originally meant to be in Heathers inventory, found in the apartment. In addtion to the unused photo there is some unused text attached to the photo, text only seen when the player examines said item:
“It’s of Dad and me at Christmas. Looking at this makes me want to try even harder. I have to…I can’t lose. They killed my dad and they have to pay for it.”
6) Finally there is an unused level. While only seen in the video below this article, it shows the level to be unfinished. Orignally meant to be part of the Mall?
