Scooty Racers [PS2 XBOX – Cancelled]

Scooty Racers is a cancelled racing game that was in development for the Xbox and Playstation 2. Rapallo (Italy) based publisher and developer Trecision announced in 2001 that it was working on this arcade racer for next generation consoles. In the game, players race agile scooters through large free-roaming environments depicted using a cel-shaded graphical style. For the project Ivan Del Duca from Milestone ( known software house specialized in racing games ) and Rick Gush from Westwood were hired by the italian company. In the later stages the game was adapted to the Popeye license and renamed Popeye: Hush Rush for the Spinach however all the efforts were wasted when Cryo, the french publisher, closed doors in 2002.

Trecision got back the full rights over the game however, the closure of Cryo hit Trecision heavily, as the shareholders decided not to sustain the company anymore. Trecision filed for voluntary liquidation in July 2003.

Renegade Zero [PC PS2 – Cancelled]

Renegade Zero is a cancelled action game / third person shooter that was in development in 2001 by Cinematix Studios for the Playstation 2 and PC.  We can read some more info in an old press release:

They hired the six most notorious bounty hunters in the galaxy to find “Renegade Zero”, an outlaw so dangerous that only a few people in the galaxy know of his existence. But with this kind of a job, you’ve got to watch your employers, and your partners, or you’ll be taking one in the back.

Renegade Zero is an action adventure shooter for the PC, Mac Playstation 2 featuring dynamic changing gameplay, fast action, a deep storyline, exploration, and adventure. Renegade Zero introduces a new level of realism and detail to it’s visual design and artwork, and expressive 3D characters with unmatched realism.

Cinematix was working on 3 games in 2001 / 2002, but they had to close down after a while, maybe for the lack of a publisher interested in their projects. Renegade Zero, Hirelings and Tankers: Smoking Barrels were all cancelled and vanished with the closure of the studio.

Months before the game release, a demo was made available for PC and PS2, that contains the Post Office level.

In final version you can only complete this level when you blow up up the sniper post with a c4 earned in Police Station, then go back to Police Station and save Isabella to be allowed to continue, but she and the kid does not appear in the demo, nor even the freedom fighters from the building and Troy in Post Office.

Worms Battle Rally [PS2 XBOX GC – Cancelled]

Worms Battle Rally is a cancelled racing / battle game similar to Mario Kart, that was in development by Team 17 in 2003 / 2004, probably planned for the Playstation 2, Xbox and GameCube. We can speculate that the gameplay was going to be similar to MK’s battle mode, at least from what we can see from the few screenshots preserved below, thanks to www.dream17.info.

Production on WBR was halted as part of the developer/publisher deal which resulted in Worms Forts: Under Siege.
