Bowsersenemy was able to notice various differences in the early beta screens and in some videos:
The upgraded version of the N60 storm, used the icon from the Lancer from RAC 2. The whole weapon status meter is from RAC 2!
In another beta screen the N60 had the icon of the second form Lancer, with LESS max ammo than before!
A beta screenshot of the multiplayer mode
Some removed enemies
A removed wrench weapon
Holostar studios mission was set in the evening, while the final version is in the day.
Qwark vid comics had beta timer, beta life bar, and beta Q token counter (bottom right corner)
Update:Fundraiser Completed! The game was released by Borman / Superior Version in January 2010, thanks to everyone!
Evilhamwizard has started a new Fundraising project for an interesting proto: Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories. As he wrote in the U64 Forum:
[…] a Kingdom Hearts Re:CoM (Chain of Memories) translation prototype for the PS2, dating 10/01/08 (and for the record, the final US release was compiled on 10/21/08). The actual DVD calls this a “Preview” build of the game, which was given to gaming companies to endure. You may be saying to yourself, “why would this be good?”. Well, actually, it’s a very cool prototype. And is definitely what I want my KH2 prototype to be like once I get a chance to check it out.
This prototype basically has the following:
– DEBUG MENUS GALOR (tons of them, covering every aspect of the game) – Minor mistranslations and spelling mistakes – Some videos and cutscenes lack English dialog
To obtain this prototype, a donation fundraiser is required to cover the costs of paying for the game. And fortunetly, isn’t too steep. The release comes to about $225. And the great part is that as soon as the goal has been met, the game will be released immediately via MegaUpload.
Here’s the current status of the fund raiser:
Completed! The game was released by Borman / Superior Version in January 2010, thanks to everyone!
If you still have doubts about the prototype itself, you can view all the video footage available at www.justin.tv/borman18 (4 hours of footage)
Special thanks to Borman from SuperiorVersion.com for purchasing the prototype and allowing the opportunity for a public release! And thanks to DreamTR for allowing us to buy prototypes at nice prices as well. :)
Croteam (creators of the Serious Sam series) were working on a new FPS for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, that could have mixed the fun arcade gameplay of SS with a realistic graphic approach. The project would have been published by GameCock Media Group, but it seems that they decided to cancel it for some economic troubles. This untitled project was build on the Serious Engine 3, but sadly only few screenshots remain.
Albert Odyssey Gaiden (known in USA as Legend of Eldean) is RPG developed by Sunsoft and released for the Saturn in 1996, but it was originally meant to be published for the Super Famicom / Super Nintendo. The SNES version was soon cancelled and the project was ported to the new SEGA console, with many differences. Obviously the graphic was boosted for the Saturn, but even the SNES version looked really good for a 16 bit system.
As in 1994 / 1995 many japanese gamers were going to buy one of the new 32 bit consoles to replace the Super Famicom / Mega Drive, probably Sunsoft thought that Albert Odyssey Gaiden would have sold better on the Saturn.
It’s currently unknown how much the SNES version was completed before its cancellation.
Here is a comparison between the SNES early build and the final game released on Saturn:
Above: Snes . Below: Saturn.
Iron Dragon Boss. It seems that in the SNES version you fought it in a different place (or the background was just a placeholder).
Same spell (death rune). We can also see the placeholder sprites in SNES version.
Thanks to Celine for the contribution (Scans from Super Power magazine #20 and #22) and Gamengai for the the fliers shared online.
Prodigal is a cancelled adventure / action game that was in development at Pseudo Interactive in 2007 / 2008 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. The player was going to became Noah Caglionosi, heir of a demon bloodline, whose mission was to kill his brothers and sisters demons, both on foot and while riding on his car.
From the screenshots and concept arts preserved in the gallery below, it looks like we could have been able to freely explore Prodigal’s world jumping on buildings and churches with Noah’s psych powers (as it happens in inFamous and Prototype), to cling to flying demons to reach higher areas and to destroy parts of the city to use the rubbles to kill huge enemies. A friend spirit / demon was going to help Noah in his mission.
The project was promising, but unfortunaly in April 2008 Pseudo Interactive was closed and Prodigal vanished with them. Only an early prototype was completed before the cancellation.
Thanks a lot to Roberto Robert, David Wu, Kay Huang, Heidi Klinck, Albert Alejandro, Bronwen Grimes and all the former Pseudo Interactive artists that helped us to preserve info and media from their lost project!
